Texas Representative Jim Pitts gave congratulatory remarks to students during the School Board special recognition that was held January 24. MISD had three National Merit Commended Scholars last year including Andrew Hernandez, Rachel Hurst and Noah Rodgers. Hernandez was also recognized as a National Hispanic Scholar for 2011.
Thirty-three students were recognized as Advance Placement Scholars this year, with 23 of those scholars graduating in 2011. The AP scholars include McKenna Maxwell, Morgan Motley, Robert Parish, Grayson Ridge Sydney Smith, John Toon, Akshar Ved and Rebecca Walker. The two AP Scholars with Honors were Jagger McCord and Noah Rodgers. More
Cyber Safety is Everyone's BusinessWe at MISD take the safety of our students very seriously. Please join us for a free Community Awareness presentation on Cyber Safety, to be held Tuesday, February 7 from 6:30-7:30 pm at the L.A. Mills Administration Building. Parents and students are encouraged to attend to learn more about Internet safety.
The first annual MISD Citizens Academy is an exciting program that involves 23 parents and community members who are learning more about their school district. In 6 monthly sessions, participants go behind the scenes to meet staff, learn how the district operates and how it creates a climate of success in both academics and extra-curricular activities. More
Midlothian ISD is taking school communication, transparency and accountability to a much higher level. The District partnered with School Connect and has launched a new mobile application that allows patrons to conveniently access district information on their Android and iPhones.
MISD school officials are excited about this new avenue to enhance school-to-parent and school-to-community communications. School Connect’s app development and hosting services are free to MISD and there are no download charges for mobile users.
Features will include calendars, district and campus news notifications, homework online, meal purchases, photo galleries, social media services, student grades, videos and more. View the new app webpage.
Student Thoughts About the School BoardBecause January is School Board Recognition Month, MISD students shared their opinions about what decisions Board members make and how many serve. They also show their appreciation for their time and service to MISD. Watch the video and read news release.
Midlothian ISD will be holding a Spring Sub Training for certified applicants only. All applications, along with a copy of the applicant's valid teaching certificate, must be completed and returned to the Administration building no later than Wednesday, February 1st. Applicants selected as substitute teachers for the district will receive a letter in the mail detailing the Sub Training information. The training is for NEW applicants to the district. If you have worked for Midlothian ISD in the past or did your student teaching, you do not need to attend this training.
Students to Perform Annie Get your Gun MusicalThe Midlothian High School fine arts students will perform a 1946 award-winning musical called 'Annie Get Your Gun' on February 2-4 at 7:00p.m. and February 5 at 2:00p.m. located in the MHS Auditorium. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online or on the night of the event. Senior citizens who have a Midlothian ISD Gold Card get in free. More
